Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute

Every summer, the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning's Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute organizes a Service Learning Camp. Campers spend the week before school starts engaging in hands-on community service at area non-profits.

I photographed a group of teens working alongside adults with developmental disabilities at Red Wiggler Community Farm in Germantown, Md., where they picked green beans and cherry tomatoes. The vegetables grown at Red Wiggler fulfill CSA orders and are donated to local food banks.

The students also visited with seniors at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. The teens sang hebrew songs, danced and played games with the residents.
